Here are the jobs for my Literature Circles:
*Discussion Director: Write questions for your group to discuss. The questions should have to do with the part of the book you are reading. Be sure your questions are interesting and open-ended so everyone can answer in their own way!
*Character Captain: Characters and real life people have unique attributes called traits. As these traits are shown throughout the book, record and share them with your group.
*Super Summarizer: Write a summary that describes what happened in this part of the book. Be sure you write in complete sentences and include lots of juicy details. Your writing should fill most of the lines below.
*Artful Adventurer: Draw a picture of one scene from the section of the book you're reading. Your picture should be colorful and have lots of details. Write a description of your picture explaining why the event was important to the story.
*Connector: Find parts of the story that remind you of things that happened to you or someone else in real life, another story, or in the world.
*Passage Picker: Pick parts of the story that your group would like to hear read aloud. You can read passages aloud yourself, ask someone else to read them, or have people read to themselves and then discuss.
**My Glossary: As you read, look for words that you don't know and add them to your glossary. Include the page number you found the word on, a synonym, and a new sentence using the word. (I require each of my students to find one word they don't know for each chapter instead of delegating the job to one student.)
