Within literature circles, students find individual ownership and responsibility for their learning by finding examples in the story to fulfill their group role. These range from making connections to visualizing, depending on the students' learning style. I often allow students to choose their role some days, while on other days, challenging them by assigning a role. Use this sheet for group work. Each role is explained on the sheet as well as a space provided for answers from the student. Each student will have a role to complete and write their answers on the sheet to be turned in at the end of class. This activity may be done before, during, or after reading in literature circle groups at the discretion of the teacher.
