Why Literature Circles?
Literature Circles increase student interaction with text by providing an opportunity for readers to respond to what they have read both orally and in writing. Literature Circles can be differentiated by using various levels of text and/or by the level of role sheet given to each student. For example, some students may use the Connector Role sheet designed for Early Emergent Readers or they may use the sheet designed for Emergent Readers. Literature Circles address many of the Common Core Standards for Language, including Speaking and Listening.
