Lincoln Mendoza, a Mexican-American exchange student, is interested in the Japanese martial art of shorinji kempo. After crossing the Pacific, Lincoln finds that Japan has baseball and kempo, close-knit families and farming, history and culture. He also finds, Mitsuo, a Japanese brother. Lincoln discovers that two brothers from two totally different cultures are much more alike than they are different.
