Have you gotten sick of the strict roles with your Lit Circles? I did! I found that when I limited student roles, I also limited their thinking. I designed this sheet to serve several purposes:
1 - To record the reading to be shared at the discussion/meeting
2 - To promote active reading with purposeful reflection. There is a journal section for students to record and process their thinking following the reading.
3 - To prepare the student to participate in a LIVELY group discussion. There is a section of the form where the student prepares for the discussion.
4 - An evaluation or quick self-assessment of the student's performance and participation in the discussion/meeting.
I like forms to multi-task. This is easy to adapt to whatever literature task or discussion in your classroom. I always ran off a bunch of these at the start of the year and would use it in various ways all year long. Enjoy!
