This interactive BOOM Cards book companion is designed to compliment the books “Little Blue Truck” and “Little Blue Truck’s Springtime" but many activities can also be used with "Goodnight, Little Blue Truck" as well. Loads of activities to cover nearly all your early language goals! The companion is designed primarily for preschool students, but could be used with kindergarten students who haven’t yet mastered the skills targeted in these activities.
Perfect for teletherapy and distance learning for preschool speech-language pathologists, preschool teachers, or parents who have young kids who love the Little Blue Truck books!
Visual sentence strips are included in most activities for either a carrier phrase (articulation activities), directions, or to be used as a visual to help your student/child use a complete sentence!
-Articulation (initial /p, d, k, g, f, r/, “sh” and “ch”)- Feed objects with the targeted sounds to the characters from the book!
-Object Functions (15)- Blue is carrying an object in his truck- can you choose the right picture that shows what you do with each object?
-Farm animal vocabulary (1)- The animals are ready to play in the mud! Place mud over the characters as you name them or practice their sound.
-Associations/Go Togethers (30 total): 10 each, sorted by items that go together based on category, function, and part/whole or use together. Blue is carrying an object- drive him to the barn that has the item that goes with the one he is carrying! Target receptive and/or expressive skills for this skill.
-WHO questions/simple inferencing/expanding MLU (8): Lots of bang for your buck in this activity- target all kinds of skills! The characters are each hiding around different places on the farm- can you guess WHO it is based on the small part you can see, and the sound they make?
After you make a guess, move the object they’re hiding behind to see if you’re right! Then, choose the right animal and use the sentence strip to describe who you found!
-Expanding MLU/Color recognition (8): All the trucks got stuck in the mud! Move the mud over to help them get out, choose the color of truck you found, and use the sentence strip to describe what you found!
-Prepositions (38): Move the characters around to put them IN the truck, take them OUT of the truck, jump ON and OFF various places, and move them over and under, too!
All activities include some form of moving pieces around on the screen to make it more interactive for your student or child!
