Here's a fun way to practice number names and recognition.
Print out cards, cut and laminate. Print the mouse (and birds). You will only need one animal for the game. The extras are in case you lose one. Be sure the animal cards is slightly smaller than the number cards.
Place all the cards in a pocket chart.
Discreetly place the mouse behind one of the number cards.
Chant: Little mouse in the yard,
Are you hiding behind the ‘3’ card? (or whatever card the child wishes to choose.) If the mouse is behind the ‘3 card, the student ‘wins’. If not, give another student a chance to chant and find the mouse.
Use with If You Take a Mouse To School, as a math center (once modeled). My students love these hide and seek type games and don't even realize they are learning!
Be sure to check for the alphabet activity too!
Thanks for stopping by!
