LIVING & NONLIVING UNIT Everything can be classified as living or non-living.
Items both living and non-living can be classified by observable physical attributes.

Children generally have an idea of what is living and nonliving but they have a hard time articulating why. This mini-unit can help them get a grasp of what makes something living. Living things need food and air, they grow and reproduce.

Page 20: Living & Nonliving things – Student will cut and sort items into categories. They will glue the image in the correct category.
Page 21: Living & Nonliving Checklist- Student will look at a picture then answer the questions, does it need air? Does it need food? Does it grow? Is it living? They will deduce the last answer by checking off the needs of living things.
