This matchbook type fold-up identifies producers and consumers as the living things in an ecosystem. The teacher can use the fully complete fold up with students if short on time or has students that need accommodations. Also, included is an 'inside' with missing parts if the teacher would like to make the fold-up more interactive. For this more interactive version, teachers may choose to run copies of the missing parts page. This page has a word bank and cut out parts designed the 'missing parts' matchbook.
On the producers side of the fold-out, both producer and photosynthesis are defined. Ingredients for photosynthesis (sunlight, water, chlorophyll and carbon dioxide) are also listed.
On the consumers side of the fold-out, consumer is defined. In addition, the four types of consumers are listed and defined (herbivore, carnivore, omnivore and decomposer).
Directions on how to assemble a matchbook fold up are included. As always, I recommend running one test copy to make sure everything folds up properly.
Fold-ups are a wonderful resource that fit well in an interactive notebook or can be used as a stand alone resource. I find that my students refer to the fold-ups throughout the entire school year!
