Lesson Plans (which are a FREE for you to print up if you download the preview of this product) that provide an anticipatory set, guided practice (with a filtering chart of criteria questions for students to answer yes or no to in order to qualify something as living or non-living), station or "observe around the room" activity, independent practice, and evaluation -- as well as ways to extend this topic into Language Arts/ Reading and Math.
A booklet for students to write key vocabulary words in, as well as to draw or cut & paste (a way to get them more personally involved in the topic, and to help them take ownership of their own learning).
A chart to help them filter out whether something is living or non-living by answering questions that qualify something as living or non-living according to essential criteria.
A bar graph starter to encourage students to walk about the room or on the playground to observe whether there are more things living or non-living indoors/outdoors, and encouragement to form a hypothesis with their observations.
