The worksheet is designed around a video about two artists from Vancouver Island who chose to live their life differently. 24 years ago, the couple started building their own sustainable floating island, complete with a dance floor, an art gallery and a garden.
The worksheet starts with a "Vocabulary" section, to help the students get familiar with some of the words and expressions used in the video. In the "Conjugation" section, we look at the different verbs in their different tenses, and they practice using them in sentences. In the "Warm Up" section, students can practice the new words they've learned with fill in the blanks exercises and by rewriting some sentences using the new words and expressions they've learned. I usually get the student to watch the video once without the transcript, then a second time while following the transcript to explain anything that was unclear. After watching the video, we move on to the "Discussion" section to test their comprehension, and to practice their speaking. I usually get the students to create sentences with the words they practiced in the "Warm Up" section as homework, and I also ask them to redo one of the exercises in the "Discussion" section as writing practice.
Depending on the level of the student and their learning style, the duration can range from 30 - 60 minutes.
I've used this worksheet for my private lessons with intermediate learners. I've also used it with small groups. I've received really good feedback from my students.
