This document was designed to assist students in a close read of the short story "Lob's Girl." This particular close read focuses on types of theme in a story and how a story's title, characters, conflict, symbols, and setting all give a reader clues about theme. At the end of the story, students are required to write a constructed response about theme using evidence from the text.
