An absolutely awesome and creative activity (similar to my Shark Island). Most suitable for Years 5, 6 and 7. It is slightly more challenging than 'Shark Island' (see below).
The aim of the activity is to locate where exactly the Loch Ness Monster (Nessie) resides in Loch Ness in the Scottish Highlands. KIDS WILL LOVE THIS PROJECT! They must be able to follow directions and use grid references.
- A3 grid paper (1cm)
- Step-by-step instructions
- Lake outline imprinted onto grid
LOCH NESS LAKE
Learning Intention: We can use a grid reference system to describe locations
Loch Ness Lake is a huge lake located in the Scottish Highlands and is a lake of mystery…
Many people visit the lake, due to the legend that a creepy aquatic creature dubbed the ‘Loch Ness Monster’ inhabits it.
Loch Ness’ Lake’s Tourism Board want to find The Loch Ness monster and prove the legend is true, in order to make lots of money and become famous.
THEY NEED YOUR HELP! Only YOU know the area of the lake where the Loch Ness Monster inhabits!
Using all that you know about directions, maps and co-ordinates, you must create a map of Loch Ness Lake, and show where the Loch Ness monster lives.
You have been asked to complete a neat and colourful map, which includes all of its main features.
