### PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

I hope your students find this lesson from my Let's Algebra Store, fun and engaging! The product contains the following PDF files: “partner A property of logarithms”, (5-pages) “partner B property of logarithms”, (5 pages), the key (3 pages), and suggested instructions for using this product. (1 page)

While working on this activity, each partner will cut out and match equivalent expressions while having the opportunity to collaborate on a mini-investigation about the property of logarithms. These properties include, the product property, the quotient property, and the power property of logarithms. Partners will also collaborate on expanding logarithmic expressions and writing expressions as single logarithms. This activity makes it easy and fun for students to work together, while at the same time allowing each student to work individually as needed.

Suggested instructions for using this activity:

Directions for pages 1 & 2…Have students partner up. Give one student the 5-page “Partner A” packet. Give the other student the 5-page “Partner B” packet. Notice that page 1 and 2 of partner A and B’s packets contain 12 identical questions and/or problems.
Partners may collaborate on these problems, but they need to
remember to record their answers on their own sheet. Once each partner is done, they will compare answers to make sure they are the same before moving on to the cut-out activity.

Directions for page 3…Notice that page 3 of partner A and B’s packets contain different cut-outs. First have Partner A cut out from his or her page 3, the eight “problems”. Partner B will then cut out from his or her page 3, the eight “answers”. They will then match-up the expressions and tape or glue the “match ups” on colored paper or card stock. They may hang them on the walls throughout the class.

Directions for page 4…You will again notice that page 4 of partner A and B’s packets contain 10 identical true false questions. Partners may collaborate on these questions, but they need to remember to record their answers on their own sheet. Once each partner is done, they will compare answers to make sure they are the same.

Directions for page 5…Notice again, that page 5 of partner A and B’s packets contain different cut -outs. Have Partner A cut out the ten expressions written as single logarithms. Partner B will cut out the ten logarithmic expressions written in expanded form. They will then match-up the expressions and tape or glue the “match ups” on colored paper or card stock. They may hang them on the walls throughout the class.
