Problem solving is a critical skill all students must learn. Make it fun and easy for students to solve for unknown variables (images) in this 96 problem pack! Logic problems allow students the opportunity to work on problem solving skills. These fun images will make it fun and exciting for students to try to figure out the value of an airplane, or how much a monster with a snowball is worth!
↠What makes this product unique?
Problem solving can be overwhelming for students. They can become upset and frustrated working through complicated problems. This product is structured to gradually increase in difficulty. Students can start where they need to, whether that be on the very first problem or half way through the product. The levels allow for easy differentiation!
↠What types of problems are in each level?
↠How do the problems print?
I have included two different versions of this product. Both versions print four problems to a page. Version one prints four unique problem sets per page. Version two prints four copies of the same problem per page. This option will require you to cut the pages into fourths. This is great for morning work, or centers. Students can grab a quick activity to work on silently-and you can save paper!
↠What is included with my purchase?
You will receive the following: 32 Level One problems, 32 Level Two problems, 32 Level Three problems, a full answer key, a set of full color bulletin board materials and a set of line art (black and white) bulletin board materials. In total, you are receiving over 200 pages of material!
↠Is this full color?
No. All student worksheets are in line art only. The answer key prints in red. The bulletin board component is available in full color or line art-you will get both versions with your purchase!
↠Is this common core aligned?
Yes and no. While there is no specific standard related to problem solving through logic, this product does involve some common core standards. For instance, students will need to use the Order of Operations skills to solve the higher-level problems. They will also require the use of basic math skills, such as addition and subtraction strategies.
↠Do I have to do use the bulletin board materials?
Nope! However, one of the reasons I love doing these problems in my classroom, is because of the conversations that occur. Hearing students "think out loud" to solve is a great, natural way to get students thinking outside of the box and using those great mathematical practices. Students can suggest ideas and then debate amongst themselves if an answer is valid. Included in this product are supplies to create a math bulletin board. This will allow you to create either your own problems or recreate the ones in this packet. I'd suggest using these within your own classroom, as a weekly challenge for your "fast finishers" or using these on a board somewhere within your school. Encourage students of other grade levels or classrooms to solve. Logic must be practiced when developing problem solving skills-the more often students see problems, the more likely they are going to gain skills to solve them.
↠Do you have a sample?
Yes! Thank you so much for your interest in this product! Included in the preview is a three page freebie of this product. There is a sample problem from each level, as well as an answer key. Give it a try with your class today!
