Product Description

This resource is a two-page chart that students can use to take notes on two logical fallacy videos presented by PBS Idea Channel (links included on the handouts).

Chart 1 (Covering one video) includes:

  • Strawman
  • Ad Hominem
  • Tu Quoque
  • The Black and White Fallacy
  • The False Authority Fallacy
  • The No True Scotsman Fallacy

Chart 2 (Covering the second video) includes:

  • The Fallacy Fallacy
  • The Texas Sharp Shooter Fallacy
  • Moving the Goal Posts (Raising the Bar)

In one column on the charts, students will take notes from the videos. In the second column, students can record "sighting strategies" helping them to locate these fallacies in the wild. These "sighting strategies" can be based on a combination of the videos and a class discussion.

This resource includes:

  • links to PBS Idea Channel videos
  • a two-page chart for taking notes
  • a teacher's guide for the charts
