PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Teaching the Art of Persuasion with the Three Appeals!

This lesson consists of an eleven slide PowerPoint and a CNN article for the activity.

It was during the Age of Reason when many speeches were given as a way to rally support for independence. Students need to understand what makes many of these speeches so persuasive.

Use Commericals!
To help facilitate students' understanding of the appeals, I have chosen three commercial advertisements that features one of the appeals to give students a visual and to help jump start a class discussion.

The lesson also instructs students to analyze an article so students can practice identifying the three appeals before beginning to read arguments by some of the greatest orators during the movement for American independence.

I enjoyed teaching this lesson and students received it well!
