Imagine you are a British person living in London in 1940. Just as you have walked in the door from work for the day, air raid sirens start going off. German bombers are on their way.
You get your family and head to to the nearest underground community shelter just as the first bombs start dropping. You listen to the explosions from underground, hoping the shelter can take the hit.
Sounds pretty scary right?
That is how daily life was for millions of British citizens.
This activity aims to simulate 'The Blitz' as best as we can as educators without the actual fear by having students hide under their desks and listen to ambient sounds and taking a look at primary sources.
