A word set which helps students learn the different ways in which the "long a" sound is spelled in 2-syllable, 3-syllable and 4-syllable words.
The resource can be used in various ways. Students can find the target vowel sound in each word and mark with highlighter pen, and/or write each word in the corresponding category columns in the answer table. For a more hands-on "say and sort", the words can be cut out, sorted manually and pasted by students into the answer table. The word set can also be used for writing and spelling practice, using the corresponding blank table.
A suitable resource for improving middle primary level spelling skills, and also as remedial phonics instruction for those students who have had insufficient practice with sound-letter relations during lower primary.
Long A Sounds is one part of my phonics activity packs on long and short vowel sounds. More coming soon!
