Product Description
This is a fun game that goes along with teaching students about the long and short A vowel sound.

This game is included in my money saving 6 game long and short vowel bundle

Teacher prep needed:
-Print out all pages. For added durability print on card stock, and laminate.
- Glue the game board onto a file folder, cut out game players, and score sheet.

This game includes:
- Student direction sheet
- Game board (2 vertical pages long)
- 108 game cards (48 long a cards, 48 short a cards,and 12 "event" cards)
- Game players (the football players)
- Score board
- 2 page recording sheet with answer key
- 1 page word sort (black and white and color version available with directions and answer key)

ALL items are in both color and black and white

How The Game Is Played:
- This game can be played 1 on 1, or on teams.
-Each person needs to pick a player (if playing 1 on 1 make sure you pick different jersey colors as you will be on separate “teams”).
-Put your player at the line of scrimmage, then choose which team and player will go first.
-The first player will draw a card. They will say the word aloud, and whether the word has a long or short a sound. If they are able to say if it has a long or short sound correctly, they can advance their player the number of yards that the card states. If not they don’t move. Place the card that you used at the bottom of the card pile. * the qr codes allow the students to self check
-Each player on that team does the same. Once all players on that team have a chance to play. Then it is the other teams turn. They also all play in the same way.
-When your player moves enough yards to land in the endzone– you have scored your team a touch down! Mark this on the score sheet. And then, reset all players to the line of scrimmage.
-Continue playing until you decide to end the game.
