Long Division Challenge Menu - No Prep
Just copy and go!
This challenge menu is a Tic-Tac-Toe menu, which asks students to complete any three activities over the course of the unit. All activities are designed to be completed independently or with a partner, and all activities should be able to be completed with regular classroom supplies. The concepts focus on explaining how long division works, connecting long division to multiplication, and using long division in real-life scenarios. It is an excellent way to get your high-achievers to extend their long-division skills. It could also be used to give remediation to struggling students in higher grades who need more practice with long division concepts.
I used this as a Grade 4 menu with my students who are high and/or Gifted and Talented in math, and do well with an extension of the basics we cover in class. This coincides with the concepts in Math Expressions/Houghton Mifflin-Harcourt Unit 7, however it is not exclusive to this curriculum and could be used with any division unit.
