Does teaching long division make you want to pull your hair out? Do your students have trouble remembering the steps? Put the steps in their hands and have them take control of their learning. This handy student chart uses Dad divides, Mom multiplies, Sister subtracts, Brother brings down and has details for each step where students often trip up. I have used this in intervention sessions with the most struggling students and believe me, this chart works (along with perseverance and encouragement). I no longer feel like a broken record. I have students read the steps and notes to me and they really do get the hang of it. This resource is a half page student chart (making 2 per page) and includes notes about a story that I tell to students when I first roll out the chart. It is a little corny but hey- they are kids. And it works!
