This long division game will help children practice visualizing division with remainders.

Learning the algorithm for long division can be tedious. Some students follow the steps without really grasping the concept of what division is, or why we divide. This division math game focuses on the real world application of division to help students understand what it really looks like.

UPDATE! This set now includes 2 levels of numbers! The red set has smaller numbers (divisors up to 5 and dividends up to 20) and the purple set has greater numbers (divisors up to 12 and dividends to 144). You can print in color or black and white (simply print the first set of cards on one color paper and the second set on a different color paper).

UPDATE 2: I have included TWO digital (Google Slides) options for using these cards with remote learners. One is a matching game. The other I found simpler for online learners. Directions are included (and are visible in the preview).

Students should work in pairs or groups and aim to make a match by uncovering the equation card that matches the graphic card.

To check if the cards are a match, inform the children that the rows in the picture match the divisor. The total number of dots represents the dividend. To find the equation, students need to count how many columns of dots are in the picture. The dots outside of the rows represent the remainder.
