This file attached works on the skills dealing with jumping and the use of jump ropes while also incorporating the long jump. It's taught at 3rd- 6th grade, but modifications are easily made with the teacher's own creativeness. The full lesson has a warm-up that is short and quick with easy setup to get the kids hearts’ pounding. The warm-up consists of an easy to use tag game that can be modified. The students will use a continue to their lesson focus after the warm-up. The warm-up activity can be changed or used for as long as the teacher needs to get the kids ready. There is very little setup and equipment needed for this lesson other than some mats and jump ropes. The lesson focus is on the long jump while running or a standing long jump depending on the teacher. This becomes a competition that is used differently than just having kids jumping to see how far they can jump. The lesson is very basic, but can be a great way to lead up to a certain skill such as the long jump. The activity can be modified to be used at any level from K-12 or older depending on the teacher’s creativity to make the activity more adaptable or challenging for the students. Enjoy!
