ONLY $1! If you're looking for practice with long o words and are sick of worksheets, this is the perfect place! I created this game to help my reading groups get practice with reading words with long o sounds (o, ow, oe, o_e, oa) in context. This game can be played in under 10 minutes which makes it ideal for early finishers, filler activities, and centers.
*4 pages of dino and action cards (print 9 per page)
For 2-4 players
The goal: Be the player with the highest number of dinosaur cards.
Setup: Shuffle the cards and place them face down in a single pile.
*On each player’s turn pick up the top card, read the sentence, and keep the card.
*If a player picks up a lava card, they must place all of their cards on the discard pile.
*If a player picks up a caveman or cavewoman card, read the card and then choose one dinosaur card to take from another player. The caveperson card is then discarded.
*Play continues until the entire deck of cards is used.
*When cards run out, all players count the number of dinosaur cards in their hand. The player with the highest number of dinosaurs is the winner.
*Use cards as fluency practice with lava cards removed.
*Use cards as a grammar review. For example, choose some cards for students to use to find subject/predicate or write the number of nouns or verbs in each sentence.
