This board game is a quick way to asses whether students can differentiate between the long and short O sounds. To play, students split up into partners or groups, and each group needs a board game, a die, game pieces (I use colored counters) and counters to help keep score. Students roll the die and move that number of spaces, then determine whether the picture they have landed on contains a long or short O sound. If it contains a long O, they take a counter. However, if it contains a short O, they lose one. The student with the most counters at the end of the game wins!
