This phonics packet features practice activities for students who are working on short and long vowel sounds. Pages 3-4 feature a short vowel matching game. Students are given a page of pictures that feature a variety of consonant-vowel-consonant words. Students must identify the short medial vowel sound in each word. Then, they cut out “letter tiles” and place them on top of the picture that matches the medial sound. Similarly, pages 5-6 feature a long vowel matching game, where students must identify the long vowel medial sound and place the correct, corresponding letter tile on each picture. These match-up games can be used as independent center work. They can also be laminated and used again. The rest of this packet features five different word sorts, in which students must sort pictures according to whether each picture features a short vowel sound or a long vowel sound. These word sorts can also be laminated for repeated use. All clip art is original and cannot be reproduced without permission. I hope you find this packet helpful and your students enjoy these activities!
