Long Vowel Dominoes: Long A (a, a_e, ai, ay, eigh)
Students learn the different vowel patterns that make the long I sound by playing Dominoes.
Students are asked to match up words that share the same long a vowel pattern. For example a student can match "sail" with "tail" because they both share the -ai vowel pattern. Another student can match "skate" with "same" because they share the -a_e vowel pattern. Students record their matches on a recording sheet.
The words used in the domino game are mostly 2nd to 4th grade vocabulary to make sure students are still using appropriate words while learning a basic skill.
