Product Description
Phonics work is fun when collaborating with a partner and here are some eye- catching and easy-to-use long vowel activities. The words used have an emphasis on the long vowel-silent "e" and vowel teams spelling patterns. Designed for first graders (or any students still needing help distinguishing the different sounds from each other), the pictorial emphasis scaffolds into application of long vowel sounds in sentence writing. There are whole class activities, as well as independent work, for use in literacy centers. Many of the activities could be used in small groups as well. Try these out for students to practice long vowels. This packet contains:

1. 30 “Peek and Poke” cards to self-check the reading and/or spelling of long vowel words—black and white version included with easy self-checking directions

2. 30 picture cards to match after reading the long vowel words— black and white version included

3. Answer pages for a 15 card or 30 card “Scoot” or “Read the Room” games

4. Sorting pages for the 5 long vowel sounds using the 30 picture cards

5. 5 independent no-prep practice pages--one for each vowel sound in color (for use with plastic sleeves) or in black and white

6. 6 “sticker-like” pictures to stimulate composing those wonderful sentences students write--one set for each long vowel; they can be copied in color or black and white
