This game is designed to practice vowel digraphs and decodable words with vowel digraphs. Print cards on cardstock and laminate for durability. Cut out the all of the cards. Place the cards face down in one stack. Be sure to shuffle them. Students take turns drawing a card. If the student is able to identify the sound/word, they keep the card. If they cannot, they must return the card to the bottom of the stack. The deck includes “take a snowman” cards which allow the student to take a snowman from another student. In my classroom, I require students to be able to identify the sound/word before they can steal the card. When a student draws the melt down card, the round ends. Students should count their cards and the student with the most is the winner!
