Scoot is a fun whole group activity or game you can use to practice, review, or assess reading long i words. It gives students a chance to move around the room and practice what they know with a game-like atmosphere!
To play, put a scoot card on each desk. Students will start at their own desks. They figure out which letter correctly spells the word and write it in the correct space on their answer sheet. After about 20 seconds, the teacher says “scoot!” and the students rotate in one direction to work on the next problem, recording their answer. The game is over when they return to their own desks with a completed recording sheet.
