This material focuses specifically on the 6 ways the Long 'a' Sound is spelled in our English Language. These 6 ways include:
1. 'a' as in apron
2. 'a-e' as in lake
3. 'ay' as in play
4. 'ai' as in train
5. 'ei' as in vein
6. 'eigh' as in sleigh
The material targets, and can be used for three different levels, or grades:
- Material for 1st level students include 6 blank cards for students to locate 5 picture cards and label them using correct FULL name Long 'a' cards. Control Material included.
- Material for 2nd level students include 6 FILL-IN cards each showing 12 images and a matching Long 'a' Fill-In label in which the student is encouraged to select the appropriate Long 'a' Fill-In to complete the word and correctly label the provided image (each Fill-In Card represents 2 images for each Long 'a' spelling = 12). - Material for 3rd level students include 6 blank cards for students to locate 5 picture cards and label them using correct PARTIAL name Long 'a' cards. Control Material included.
