This is a great activity to practice identifying the short or long vowel sound in a word. Put a ring on the vowel sound in the card that you select. Place cards face down on the floor and take turns drawing a card put a ring on the finger of the correct vowel sound. If you get it right keep the card, if you don't put it back at the bottom of the pile. The person who has the most cards at the end of the game is the winner. You can use the paper ring in the file or use a math manipulative (a link) will work too. Print on card stock and laminate for lasting durability! Great for a finished work game too! This file contains short and long vowel cards. Great for high or low readers who need practice with short or long vowel sounds or both! This activity comes with 2 worksheets ( one for short vowels and one for long vowels) just like the activity that you can use for additional practice or assessment.
