Those vowel sounds can be so tricky for our young readers. Students need to learn that vowels can make two sounds- a short vowel sound and a long vowel sound. Discrimination activities where students sort words with the two sounds is a great way to introduce this concept.
When you download the long and short vowel sound sorting bundle you will receive all five vowel sorting file folder activities! Each file folder activity contains colorful sorting pictures (58- a, 47- e, 51- i, 49- o and 38- u) and the templates for creating the word sorts. Simply glue the templates on a file folder and laminate. You'll have sorting activities that will last for years!
