Long i- ie, i_e, igh, and y Word Work Activities
Help your children learn the difference between long i spelling patterns of ie, igh, i_e, y, and i. These activities are perfect for guided reading, word work, or as a learning activity. Included are 4 color activities and 12 blackline worksheets.
1. Sort and Flip
The children will sort the words into up to 3 groups, words that have ie, igh, or y in them. When the children complete the activity they turn the cards over and if they completed it correctly it makes a picture. The children are always amazed by the picture that the activity makes.
2. Finish It!
Children will place igh, i, y, and ie into word cards to complete the words.
Children will read and put together a variety of puzzles according to whether they should have i_e, ie, y, or igh in them.
4. Game Board-
Children will move their pieces around the game board by reading ie, i_e, igh, or y words.
