You do not need the Jolly Grammar text book to use this sheet. The Jolly Learning Grammar 6 student book published in 2017 is a fantastic resource. However, it is not differentiated. Therefore, I have produced this additional resource to accompany the student book. It is aimed at the lower end of a year 4, 5 or 6 class as I have taken the easiest ten of the spellings and created a three part sheet.
Part one asks the students to copy and spell each spelling, to copy and spell again and then to cover and spell. Part Two gives five sentences and the pupils' must fill in the correct missing word. Each missing word is one of the spellings. Part Three gives the remaining five spellings, and their meanings, and students have to draw a line to link each spelling with its meaning
I use this sheet as homework to encourage the children to learn their spellings, and the meaning of each word, but it could also be used in class as part of a spelling lesson or as an extension activity. Each sheet has a space at the top for students to record their details plus a space for them to write the date when the sheet should be returned to school. I hope you find it as useful as I do, and that it helps you to improve your students' spelling level.
