These cut-and-paste sorts make great guided or independent practice for students learning to differentiate between long and short vowels. The product includes a one-page sort for each vowel, coming to five sorts total. I tried to use clear images that students can identify on their own so that they can complete these activities independently.
Please note that the u sort includes long vowel pictures that make both the traditional long u sound, as in cube, and the /oo/ sound, as in glue. Phonics systems and curricula vary on whether they consider the latter sound as the long u sound. There are very few recognizable images for the traditional long u sound, hence why I included both.
As a special education teacher, I made sure to use a clear, easy-to-read font and to keep distractions like fancy borders, etc., to a minimum.
