A latitude and longitude PowerPoint that is 27 slides and includes a worksheet. The PowerPoint takes students through the seven continents and four oceans as well as explaining latitude and longitude. There is a worksheet included for students to label as they go through the PowerPoint. The end of the presentation includes an activity where students work in groups or individually to find cities located at certain coordinates. It can be used as a game or a competition. There are 11 slides involved in the group activity. I do this presentation with my students in groups. Each group has a globe that they use as I model longitude and latitude. They also use the globe for the activity. However, if you don’t have enough globes, normal political maps printed from the internet or even in the back of a textbook should suffice. The PowerPoint is very easy for the teacher to understand and follow without a lot of explanation. This can be used as a lesson in and of itself or as a framework for a broader lesson on map skills and longitude and latitude. I hope your students like it as much as mine!
