Description
Look, Read, Write Volume 2 is designed for beginning writers learning how to compose complete sentences. It is appropriate for second semester Kindergarteners, on-level first graders and struggling second graders. You won’t believe how this method gets even the most reluctant writers excited about writing!
I use the “journal” during the word work/writing station of my “Daily 4”. Once the kids get the hang of it, you’ll see them begin to come up with sentences of their own that don’t necessarily fit the given sentence starters--and that’s exactly what we want!
Common Core Standards Addressed:
L.K.1; L.1.1; L.2.1: Demonstrate command of the conventions of standard English grammar and usage when writing or speaking.
L.K.2; L.1.1; L.2.1. Demonstrate command of the conventions of standard English capitalization, punctuation, and spelling when writing.
You can use this 2 different ways:
1) As a printable journal: Print 2-sided from p. 3-23. Staple the left margin 3 times. When your students open the journal, they will see the visual cues on the left and a full page of writing paper on the right.
2) As single writing assignments: Print all even-numbered pages beginning with page 4 through 22, preferably on card-stock so they can be re-used. Print lots of single copies of the writing paper or use your own.
Included in this volume are 10 prompts--approximately 2 weeks of daily lessons: At the Zoo, I Love to Read, Shapes, In the Rainforest, How Plants Grow, In My Bedroom, Castle Adventure, Science Class, People at my School and Hometown Heroes.
