Do you have students who struggle with double vowels? To make this easier to practice, I have created a set of cards with double vowels that follow the generalization - when you see two vowels, you say the name of the first vowel and the second one listens silently - hence the name - Look Who's Talking!
There are two sets of cards. In the first set the first vowel is in bold and in red type. The second vowel is in red. The second set of cards is in all black type. This is a scaffolding technique to help your students see what they should focus on while sounding out the words. Next bring in the black print cards. Can your students now make the transfer? Let them practice in small groups and individually by playing a matching game or Go Fish.
I have included a change card in case you would like to play Crazy 8's or use one for Old Maid.
I hope your students enjoy working on this engaging card game from Karen's Corner Classroom!
