This packet contains a poem about the last day of school. A little boy’s joy and anticipation of summer fun comes crashing down when he realizes that he must go to summer school. Discussion questions are supplied in order to help students realize that doing some school work during summer, perhaps, isn’t such a bad idea. A comparison chart is supplied wherein students can think about how their lives will change when they walk out the door on the last day of school. Each student gets a chance to write their own memoir of the school year as they fill in the blanks writing a letter to themselves. Lastly, a “Find Someone Who” activity gives the students a chance to find out how each other will be spending their summer away from school.
