The key to differentiated instruction is student choice! These projects allow students to choose their own assessments based on their strengths in the Multiple Intelligences.
Each assessment has been assigned a point value: students choose assessments totaling up to ten or more. (This point value is to meet requirements, not to reflect the grade.) As students move up the scale into higher ranked assignments, they move up the cognitive levels of Bloom/ Marzano.
For example, Fred could choose to go straight to a 10 point essay topic to demonstrate understanding while Martika could create a map (1 pt), a survival manual (4 pts), and a character diary (6 pts).
*I've recently revised this to add more essay topics to choice 10.*
I've used this format several times, and I've always had success. Even my weakest, most literal readers find that they have something in here that highlights their strengths. I remember one boy who never did anything in class. Imagine my delight when he came alive creating the pig hunting poster, and explained to us where Jack had gone wrong in the book!
As always, if you like the product, please leave positive feedback and be sure to check out my other items!
