In this unit, classes are broken into 5 "tribes" which will work together to complete various challenged related to the novel. Each tribe will follow the character development of one of the main characters from the novel as the story progresses. The unit includes a pre-reading webquest, a "tribe challenge" for each chapter, comprehension/discussion questions for each chapter, two mini writing assessments, four supplemental nonfiction texts, and one final argumentative essay on whether humans are inherently good or evil. Each writing assessment also includes scaffolded outlines based upon the writing abilities of the students. The unit is also editable for your convenience!
