Teaching your Spanish students yet another chapter about sports and health? Draw them in from the beginning of the unit and invite them to share a little bit about themselves with you.
I use this two page student questionnaire with my Spanish II students who have prior knowledge of basic sport and health vocabulary and who have just learned new vocabulary related to this topic. At the beginning of our unit on sports and health, I tell students that I would like to get to know more about them as it relates to this topic and ask them to fill out this questionnaire to help me do so.
We first look at the questionnaire together on the screen so that I can ensure that students understand the vocabulary and the questions. I used vocabulary that my students learned in Spanish I and part of Spanish II, so you may need to edit/adjust some questions to better fit what your students know or don’t know. For this reason, you will receive both a ready-to-print PDF file and an editable Word document file with your download. (Make sure to click the preview file to read over the questions and see if they will work for you and your students!)
After students have completed the survey, I tell them several statements about myself and ask them to guess if they are true or false. For example: “Me gusta levantar pesas y hacer ejercicio.” They seem to enjoy learning a little bit about me as much as I enjoy learning about them.
