Product Description
This is an entire weekly unit on Spanish Myths. It contains vocabulary, a story with questions based on a traditional Aztec myth "Los novios", grammar (irregular preterit), practice activities, a project, and multiple quizzes. The advanced activity is based on the Mayan myth "La Xtabay"! :)

Included:
- vocabulary list - with 20 vocabulary words and grammar points
- song lyrics (Irregular Preterit Verbs song)
- powerpoint - with pictures of vocabulary words for practice, bellwork activities, and notes on myths and the Aztecs
- "Los novios" - an Aztec myth about the origin of Popocatepetl and Ixtaccihuatl, two volcanos outside Mexico City
- questions - to check for understanding of "Los novios"
- grammar lesson and practice -irregular preterit verbs
- speaking activity - students ask and answer questions with a partner
- project - write and present an original myth, using the vocabulary and preterit
- reading and grammar quiz (2 versions for retakes)
- advanced assignment - an independent activity to challenge strong students ("La Xtabay")

Rubrics:
- Each quiz has a rubric at the bottom
- In our class, if a student gets 100% correct on the quiz, he or she receives a B (proficient). The student must complete the advanced assignment in order to get an A. This may seem confusing, but works very well in our classes for differentiation. Feel free to adapt the grading for what is best for your class, though. :)
