This is a short 2-3 day unit based on the thieving monkeys and raccoons of Manuel Antonio National Park in Costa Rica. I was inspired to make this mini unit after my recent trip there, when I saw raccoons going through bags even though food is now banned there!
The reading this unit is based around was written to be comprehensible in early- to mid-Spanish 1 in the comprehensible input classroom. The reading targets the structures "trae" and "roba". Words that a novice-mid learner might not know have the English translation at the bottom of the reading on one version. The reading is appropriate for elementary, middle, and high school.
This could be a standalone mini unit or it could tie in nicely with any environment or animal units. You could also do this unit along with the comprehensible readers Robo en la noche or Isabela captura un congo, both set in Costa Rica.
Included in this unit are:
*Two versions of a comprehensible reading at the Spanish 1 level - one version with English translations at the bottom for more difficult words and one without
*Comprehension questions in English about the reading with answer key
*True/false questions in English about the reading with answer key
*A running dictation based on the reading
*A movietalk script related to the reading
*A short writing prompt based on a photo as a summative assessment
*A link to an editable version of the ENTIRE unit!
This is a GROWING unit! You'll have access to anything I add to it in the GoogleSlides version.
