This activity is intended to be used with the novel, Loser.
In assigned groups, students will closely examine Jerry Spinelli's character Zinkoff. Students will not only note physical descriptions (and imagine how he would look), but important quotes that reveal aspects of character. Students will develop meaningful symbols to associate with the character's traits and struggles. The final product is a life-sized "body biography" of Zinkoff. In each body part, a quote or symbol is depicted to express an aspect of character. For example, the Achilles Heel should contain a weakness.
Students will need large sheets of paper to complete this assignment.
