Offer children who have lost a pet a tangible keepsake with this Pet Memory Journal. Use in individual counseling or group counseling for students grieving the loss of a pet.
Some of the earliest losses experienced by our young students include the loss of a pet. Helping a child to process complex feelings and questions can be invaluable in the experience of grief. This printable resource offers your students a tangible way to remember and celebrate their beloved pets.
This 44-page PDF printable download resource can be printed in its entirety as a memory book, or you can choose to print individual pages. I've included color and black and white pictures of the actual pets, if you need to be able to cut out pictures. The student may also want to paste in a photo or draw the picture, instead. There are 7 cover options ranging from full-color, to minimal color, to 1 black/white.
It includes a BONUS 10-page Class Pet Memory Journal!
Pet clipart includes 2 dog designs, 1 cat, fish, 2 birds, snake, turtle, bunny, mouse/rat/hamster/gerbil, and a guinea pig. All come in color and black/white options. *The last 10 pages of the download are specific printables for children coping with the loss of a class pet.*

I had three students lose a pet within a week and a half of each other. Only one of them wanted to talk about it so I wanted to find a way for them to express their feelings in a way that felt safe and comfortable for them. This journal was perfect and it had so many pages in it to choose which ones fit best for each of my students. I love that this packet included pages which prompted the students to write or draw about their feelings and emotions! Well done! - Denise P.
It was quite useful to be able to work through this pet memory book to help my students process the loss of their pets, and I love the options to use black and white clip art pictures or to be able to paste in images of the students' actual pets. Thanks for the great resource! - Lori W.
This is such a sweet little memory journal. I needed one for a current client and when I was getting it ready to send to her, I decided that I needed to do it myself as I lost a beloved pet a few months back. It is going to be a tended experience for me to do this with my client. - The Play Counselor
