My favorite part of this unit is the Louisiana Purchase "skit". A skit with a mostly nonverbal class is really interesting but we had a good time! the kids had costumes and were positioned around the room and when it was their time to speak, we had programmed their lines in their devices! They had such big smiles!
The worksheets we would read aloud to the kids individually. I would put two dots on either side of where I wanted them to highlight, and they would highlight between the two dots. Then we would read the questions allowed to the student and they would point to or circle their answer.
This unit was designed for students with significant disabilities on the VAAP curriculum. The assessments in this unit address the Louisiana Purchase section of the bullet a)
