Materials included in this game set:
8 envelope category cards
48 word cards for category sorting
16 post cards for category-word matching
2 black-line worksheets (naming items in category)
Print, cut and laminate envelope and stamp cards. Pass out envelope cards to players. Help students read their category words if they need help.
Have students listen while you present a stamp word. The player who has the category that the word belongs in should communicate that to earn the card (raise hand, say “that’s mine”). The player to collect their 6 stamps for their envelope wins the game!
You can also have student use this game in a student center for a sorting activity.
Print and laminate cards. Cut the cards out and cut them in half. Use these cards as a memory matching game and/or student center sorting activity.
You can also shuffle the cards and use them in a a mixed practice game. Players pick a card and have to either identify the category or name 3 items that belong in the target group (depending on which card half they have).
You can use this in your intervention/therapy groups OR send this home with students as homework. Students need to write 3 words that belong in the target category on each post card.
